Meet Valeria
In July 2024, when the doctors told us that Valeria had a brain tumor and that there was a high probability it could be cancerous, our world came crashing down. Everything changed in an instant. An emergency surgery led us to spend weeks in the pediatric intensive care unit, followed by months in another hospital for her rehabilitation therapies. The surgery resulted in her temporarily losing her basic abilities to be independent.
After many months of hope, slowly but surely, Valeria has been regaining her abilities, but she still has a long road to continue. I’m the only one providing for Vale, and with her medical condition, I had to stop working to be her full-time caregiver.
We’ve been incredibly fortunate to have the support of organizations like Liv Like a Unicorn. Their help has made some of our financial burdens lighter, and that has made a difference in our lives during this difficult time. But it’s more than just financial support—it’s the joy that fills Valeria’s face when she receives one of her gifts, the happiness that momentarily lightens the weight of it all. These small moments of pure joy remind us of our little girl’s strength and spirit.
Seeing Valeria today—laughing, playing, and finding joy in the things she loves again—is a reminder of her incredible strength and the love that surrounds her. She’s only 8, but she’s already shown us what fighting with all your heart means. And for that, we are eternally grateful for the people who have helped us, the support that keeps us going, and the light that Valeria brings into our daily lives.
