Unicorn Club: Care Packages for Children with Cancer

The inspiration for Unicorn Club began in 2019 while Liv was receiving treatment for a rare pediatric brain tumor.

Every Thursday was chemotherapy day. The medication arrived in a hazardous waste bag, required gloves to administer, and often left Liv in tears because of the pain and side effects. Wednesday nights became filled with anxiety because she knew what was coming the next morning.

Then something unexpected happened.

A friend began leaving a small surprise on our doorstep every Thursday morning. It wasn’t extravagant, but it gave Liv something to smile about before another difficult day at the hospital.

That simple act of kindness became the inspiration for Unicorn Club.

What is our Unicorn Club?

Originally launched as our Unicorn Box program, our Unicorn Club now provides year-round support to children facing cancer across the United States.

Each enrolled child receives a welcome package filled with age-appropriate comfort items, activities, and encouragement designed to make hospital stays, clinic visits, and treatment days a little easier.

Throughout the year, children continue receiving surprise packages celebrating birthdays, summer, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, and other milestones, giving them something to look forward to during treatment.

Because childhood cancer affects the entire family, Unicorn Club also includes thoughtful caregiver support to remind parents they are not walking this journey alone.
